Upcoming Roundtable | What Is Art?

Is art something that you have to go to a museum to see, or is it all around us?  Is there a difference between the Mona Lisa and graffiti art?  Is art just about personal expression, or can it be used as a vehicle of political action and change?  Does art have to be pretty?  Can art make the world a better place?

These are some of the questions that we will discuss during this roundtable luncheon on Tuesday, October 7 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the Miley Private Dining Room.  We will explore the nature of art and our relation to images in the world from both historical and contemporary perspectives. Dr. Anthony Mangieri, art history professor, will lead this discussion.
