Upcoming Roundtable | Defining Feminism

Last month, actress and U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson gave a speech on feminism and gender equality at the U.N. headquarters in New York City. Watson was announcing the launch of the U.N. Women’s “HeForShe” campaign, but she offered her own personal commentary on the misconceptions of feminism.

The speech sparked conversations about feminism across the world, but the ultimate question remains—what does it mean to be a feminist?

During this roundtable discussion, which will be held on Friday, October 24 at 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. in the Miley Private Dining Room, we will discuss the definition of feminism and how feminism has been framed through various perspectives. We will also discuss the implications of feminism’s misconceptions for gender equality.

Roundtable discussions are open to students, faculty and staff at Salve Regina University. The Pell Center will provide a free lunch. Space is limited. Please RSVP to [email protected].
