The Pell Center Projects

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Pell Center conducts and popularizes research across a broad sweep of domestic and international issues. Projects at the Pell Center are not intended to stay in the academy; rather they are, to borrow from Pell’s credo, to generate ideas that can be translated into action to help people.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=”” el_id=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Global Challenges

This project examines difficult public issues from an international perspective. Through studies and events, we explore issues in health care, education, aging, criminal justice and more in order to understand how other modern, industrial societies deal with the same critical challenges. In understanding the global response to these issues, we may find lessons for American policymakers. At minimum, we’ll deepen the understanding of our shared human experience.

PUBLIC POLICY

Leadership Matters

A partnership between the Pell Center and the Public Sector Consortium, this project seeks to develop public leaders in Rhode Island. Each year, the program provides training to current and rising leaders by emphasizing advanced management and leadership skills in the workplace. The long-term goal is to provide a center of continuous leadership development that will ensure professional competencies and best practices are continually developed and refreshed.

CYBER LEADERSHIP

Cyber Leadership

This project is intended to help prepare America’s institutional leaders for the complexities of operating in an area of cyber threat. Ongoing research seeks to identify and investigate key issues in leadership development across society, and to recommend improvements so that the United States, as a society, is prepared for the threats of the modern world.

STORY IN THE PUBLIC SQUARE

Story in the Public Square
A partnership between the Pell Center and the Providence Journal, this project is a year-round initiative to study and celebrate public storytelling. It features an annual conference, lectures, awards and student contests, as well as original scholarship about public storytelling and how those stories can affect the public debate.
